CABINET FINISH AGREEMENT

Much of the beauty and appeal of wood cabinetry comes from the natural variations in grain and color inherent in wood. Note that wood color continues to change even after being made into finished cabinetry. All wood, finished or unfinished, will change in color due to exposure to sunlight and natural mellowing with age

CHARACTERISTICS OF WOOD

Wood is a product of nature and will vary in color, texture and grain. No two pieces are exactly alike – natural variation is part of the beauty, character and charm of wood. All woods are affected by moisture and humidity. High humidity will cause wood to expand, while low humidity will cause the wood to contract. As wood ages and with exposure to sunlight and other elements, it will change slightly in color.

CHARACTERISTICS OF FINISHES

PAINT FINISHES: Paint finishes are different from standard wood finishes. Hairline cracks may appear at joints due to natural wood movement with seasonal changes in humidity. This will be most notable at panel joints, stiles, and rails. Painting cabinets can magnify any imperfections with the cabinets themselves that may or may not have been noticeable prior to painting. Nail holes, obvious dings/dents will be filled/fixed by Total Choice Painters during preparation.

STAINED FINISHES: The natural light and dark characteristics of the grain are enhanced as stains are absorbed into the wood. Softer areas of the wood, and end grain surfaces, accept more stain and can appear darker. Wood will vary in color, texture and grain. Total Choice Painters will take steps to reduce variation but can not be totally eliminated. Nail holes will be filled by Total Choice Painters during preparation.

Oftentimes, due to use, age or improper installation, cabinet doors are not completely even prior to starting a job. Painted finishes can magnify this. If hinges are adjustable (some are and some aren’t),  Total Choice Painters will attempt (but not guarantee) to straighten doors upon installation.

By signing this agreement the undersigned customer indicates they have read and understood the contents of this document and agrees to hold harmless Total Choice Painters in the event that these characteristics are later found to be less desirable than expected
